Five arrested, minor arrested for assaulting six men

Pune: Hadapsar police on Wednesday arrested five men and detained a 16-year-old minor boy on charges of attacking six men over previous enmity at Zed Corner in Manjari Budruk on November 25 around 10.30 pm.
The victims, Karan Memjade (23) and Tejas Paigude (20), who were seriously injured, are recovering at a private hospital in Manjari. The four other victims – Sujal Bhise, Suraj Chaudhary, Pratik Shinde and passerby Tejas Paigude, escaped with minor injuries.
Senior Inspector Santosh Pandhare said the attackers reached Zed Corner with sharp weapons and resolved a dispute with five men who were playing an online game. The dispute was about one of the victims who misbehaved with a woman they knew a few days ago.
Pandhare said after the argument between the two groups turned heated, the assailants assaulted, thrashed and attacked the five men with sharp weapons. “The attackers also attacked a sixth person, a passerby, for intervening in their dispute,” Pandhare said.
“The attackers also threatened the residents and created a reign of terror among them,” the officer said, adding that the injured victims were rushed to a private hospital.
Assistant Inspector Umesh Rokade said a police team has collected information about the attackers and taken them into custody or kept them at different places. The attackers were later arrested after their role in the crime was established.
A magisterial court has ordered the remand of attackers Prem Sathe (19), Saurabh Ingale (23), Swapnil Katare (23), Sumit Barnwal (19) and Pratik Chorde (21), all from Manjari, till November 30. The minor boy was kept in an observation home after he was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board in Yerawada.
