Laurel man arrested for sexual assault, bond set at $75,000

ELLISVILLE, Miss. (WDAM) – An Ellisville man was arrested Monday for sexual assault.

On November 25, 32-year-old Desmond Keyon McCoy of Laurel was arrested and charged with sexual battery for an incident that occurred in June.

On June 24, Ellisville police officers received a report from a parent who stated that their 13-year-old daughter had called her reporting that she had been sexually assaulted.

McCoy was not on scene when officers arrived and the parents were able to locate their child.

An arrest warrant was issued for McCoy after an investigation was conducted and evidence gathered.

McCoy had already been granted bond on an unrelated misdemeanor charge that had recently been arraigned.

McCoy turned himself over to his bail bondsman on Monday, who returned him to the custody of the Jones County Jail.

McCoy’s bond has been set at $75,000 on the sexual assault charge. His bond for his previous, unrelated offense was revoked.
