The suspect also used a crowbar to pick the locks or break out the glass on the doors, remove weather stripping from the windows of the businesses and then use a tool to pry open the windows. Once inside, the suspect searched the cash register or in some cases took the entire safe, police said.

Metro police later identified Hasan as a person of interest in the burglaries. A records check revealed Hasan had an extensive criminal history and was a registered ex-felon for burglary of a business in 2021, burglary in 2016 and possession of stolen property in 2010, police said.

Hasan has also been involved in three different burglary series in the Las Vegas Valley in the past, the most recent of which was in 2019 in North Las Vegas. In 2016, Hasan was arrested for his connection to a series of burglaries involving around 20 businesses. In that series, the suspect also used a crowbar, wore work gloves, removed windows to enter the businesses and cut into safes to remove cash, the report said.

On November 10, around 8:50 a.m., North Las Vegas police responded to a burglary at the Tire Works on Centennial Parkway. When officers arrived, they saw the suspect, later identified as Hasan, leaving the building through a shattered window, police said.

LVMPD was not notified of Hasan’s arrest until after he had already been released from the North Las Vegas Community Correctional Center.

On November 19, Metro police went to Hasan’s home in North Las Vegas, where he surrendered and was arrested without incident.

Officers spoke to a witness who was at the home and told them Hasan would often gamble and described the behavior as a “gambling addiction,” the report said.
