Two brothers killed a young man in a clash over the construction of a waterline in Lal Gate area of ​​Surat. Police arrested both attackers within hours of the murder.

The murder took place on November 26 in Ghastipura locality, which falls under the jurisdiction of Surat police station in Lalgate.

The argument arose from a dispute over the construction of water pipes. The victim, Afzal Patel, was fatally attacked with a paddle. Following the incident, the suspects, Mohammad Shahzad alias Khujli Farooq Momin Sheikh and Ejaj Farooq Sheikh, fled the scene.

Lalgate police on arrival shifted the body of the deceased to the hospital and initiated efforts to arrest the culprits. Within hours, the police were able to arrest both suspects.

During the police interrogation, it emerged that the suspect had previously had an argument with the deceased about the construction of a water pipe. Both admitted to fatally hitting the victim twice with a paddle. It also emerged that both attackers were involved in plumbing work. Police are currently investigating their criminal past.

The incident is part of a series of murders in Surat over the past week, raising concerns about rising crime rates in the city.
