Attleboro elementary school teacher placed on leave after allegedly hitting two students – Boston News, Weather, Sports

ATTLEBORO, MASS. (WHDH) – An Attleboro elementary school teacher has been placed on administrative leave amid an investigation into an incident in which they allegedly punched two students, officials said.

In a statement Wednesday, Attleboro Superintendent David Sawyer said, “On Tuesday afternoon, administrators at Thacher Elementary School contacted Central Office staff regarding a disturbing incident that occurred at the school. Administrators learned that a physical altercation occurred between a teacher and two students in a classroom, during which the teacher allegedly punched the two students.

The district administration was immediately notified and an investigation was initiated in accordance with district procedures. The district has also notified the Attleboro Police Department and the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families.”

The statement continued: “This is disheartening news as the safety and well-being of our students is our top priority. We take these types of situations very seriously and strive to cooperate with the Attleboro Police Department in conducting a thorough investigation.”
