No concession if complaints come against police: DMP commissioner

No concession will be made if a complaint is received against a police station, Commissioner Sheikh Md Sazzad Ali of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said today (Nov 28).

“You must discharge your responsibilities in such a way that no complaint comes to me against any of you. I don’t want to take action against anyone. But if there is a complaint, no concession will be made,” he said during the exchange of information. discussions with OCs from 50 DMP police stations in the meeting room of the DMP headquarters.

He also directed all police stations under his jurisdiction to clean up the image of the police through their work.

“Police stations are hubs of police services. The officers in charge of all police stations under the DMP should work and provide good services to the people to brighten the image of the police,” he said.

“You are the ones taking legal action. All police activities are concentrated in the police stations. You have many responsibilities. You have to carry out your responsibilities well,” he said.

The image of the police has been tarnished by some ambitious police officials in the past, he said.

The DMP Commissioner said that the police must earn the trust of the people by serving them with good conduct.

He emphasized the importance of increasing the relationship between the police and the population, saying the more relationships you build with the people, the more information you get.

“If you get more information, you can take action against crimes,” he said.

He also ordered that the cases should be dealt with through proper and fair investigation.
