GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Most people in West Michigan are dealing with construction this time of year, but if you were in Heritage Hill Monday morning, you may have had some heartbreak at because of something a little different: a turkey.

A Tours Around Michigan bus was passing through Heritage Hill when they came across a turkey that was causing trouble.

Video captured by tour guide Candice Smith shows the bird pecking at a car that was moving carefully to avoid hitting it. Eventually, the car was able to leave safely, but not without being chased by the turkey.

Smith said the turkey was seen on two separate tours Monday morning in the same Heritage Hill neighborhood.

This isn’t the first time turkeys have caused problems in West Michigan. In 2022, the infamous “Gary the Turkey” was relocated by the Kentwood Police to improve security in the area of 52nd and Kalamazoo Avenue, which Gary frequented to chase cars.

Gary was so well known in the Kentwood area that he had his own Facebook page allowing residents to keep tabs on him.
