‘I was so shocked’: Texas Tech student receives surprise proposal during graduation photos

LUBBOCK, Texas — Lubbock real estate agent and Texas Tech student Reese Logan will hit a milestone at the Rawls College of Business on Friday, but what she didn’t expect was to start a new chapter in her life of fiancée.

Logan shared on EverythingLubbock.com on April 30 that she had no idea that her longtime boyfriend, Ryan Hartman, was going to propose to her while she was taking graduation photos.

Recalling that day, Logan said, “We got to the (TTU) seal and started taking pictures. » She added that the photographer took at least an hour and a half to take graduation photos.

Hartman, who waited more than an hour, remained calm and recovered the entire time. “He was super cool. Nothing was too alarming. Like I really didn’t know (he was going to propose),” Logan said.

Logan mentioned that the couple had talked about the ring she loved and wanted, but didn’t expect the question to come up so soon.

“Yeah, around graduation that makes sense, but I didn’t know he asked my dad,” Logan expressed. “I didn’t even know he had a ring.”

Logan also didn’t know that he had planned the entire proposal with his photographer. After taking graduation photos herself, the photographer brought Hartman over to take photos together.

“All of a sudden, my friend comes up to me to comb my hair and take off my stole. I felt a little ambushed and a little suspicious,” Logan expressed. “The next thing I knew, he was on his knees,” she said.

Logan said it all happened so fast that she passed out at that point.

“The first thing I said when I turned around was ‘no way’. I wanted to cry, but I was so shocked I couldn’t. All I could say was “no way,” she repeated.

She was in disbelief the moment he proposed to her. “Like how I didn’t know that,” Logan baffled.

She told EverythingLubbock.com that she once mentioned that “it would be so cool if someone proposed to the seal.”

“I can’t believe he listened when I said that out loud (like) it was such an inescapable, iconic moment (for a proposal),” Logan said. “It was definitely a surprise,” Logan added.

“Not only was I taking photos for my graduation, but I was also getting engaged. It was like a peak on top of a peak,” Logan said.

After graduation, the “Hartmans” plan to stay in Lubbock to continue their efforts in real estate and marketing. Logan said his parents are Texas Tech alumni and added, “It’s special to be in Hub City and doing what they did when they were (my) age.” »
