Error during postal voting: 1,219 votes went wrong!

In Palnadu district, a significant number of 19,095 employees are voting through postal voting.

The process began on May 5, with various officials, including POs, APOs, OPOs and micro-observers, exercising their right to vote.

However, a worrying incident occurred during postal voting in Chilakaluripet constituency on May 5. An error by officials caused confusion, affecting the votes of 1,219 employees.

The voting process was held at Ganapavaram ZP High School in Nadendla mandal.

It was found that instead of receiving postal ballots, these employees were given regular ballots meant for EVMs, which they unknowingly voted for.

Unfortunately, the error was not noticed until after the vote had ended. The officials concerned promptly reported the matter to higher authorities, including the Collector, who forwarded the information to Chief Electoral Officer Mukesh Kumar Meena.

This incident prompted the parties involved to act quickly.

TDP leaders Varla Ramaiaha and Marreddy Srinivasa Reddy, along with CEO Mukesh Kumar Meena, filed a formal complaint seeking redressal.

They notably insisted that the voting rights of the 1,219 employees concerned be protected, by calling for a new vote. They also stressed the importance of holding those responsible accountable for this incident.
