Have you ever wondered what recording “Back then, now” it was like Tyler Hubbard? Well, you’re in luck because Tyler offers some insight into what happened in the studio that day.

“I just kind of told the players to really take their creative freedom and see where this song took them,” Tyler shares in a press interview. “We were really taking a lot of inspiration from the 80s if you will, 80s sounds, and everything had that vintage 80s undertone, probably a more pop undertone.”

“It was really fresh and fun. It just brightened (the song) up for some reason,” he recalled.

Knowing the musicians in the studio were onto something good, Tyler decided to chase that nostalgic, ready-to-strike sound.

“I told (the players) to really continue to build on that, no matter what. It just (seemed) classic and unique at the time,” Tyler says. “So we just ran with it and had a lot of fun with it, and I feel like it was the perfect blend of lifestyle, nostalgic memories, images and colors mixed with musicality and a incredible production as well.”

“Back Then Right Now” is currently #2 on the national charts. You can find it on Tyler’s second album, Strongoutside now.
