Beat the Chasers viewers shocked after TV presenter wins biggest cash prize ever

Chase fans have been left stunned after a BBC presenter left the competition with the biggest prize ever.

TV and radio star Rick Edwards took over on Monday’s (May 6) Beat the Chasers: Celebrity Edition, alongside BBC Breakfast’s Charlie Stayt and comedian Neil Delamere, and showed no fear of taking on characters like Chasers The Menace, The Governess and the Beast.

Rick started strong by securing £4,000 for his cash flow matters, but was then offered the chance to win £120,000 for his chosen charity, a whale and dolphin conservation organisation.

In order to win this tempting prize, Rick had to answer as many questions as possible in 60 seconds, and he also had to face five chasers, who had only 42 seconds to beat him.

The Impossible host managed to answer several questions correctly and left the Chasers sweating with seconds to go, meaning Rick was able to pocket a whopping £120,000 for charity – the biggest joint prize of the story of Beat the Chasers.

After her impressive win, Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan said: “It was impeccable time management. A lot of players come in and look at that time advantage in terms of how many questions they can get wrong.”

Viewers took to social media to share their joy at Rick’s very impressive victory, with one writing on X (formerly Twitter): “I just knew @rickedwards1 would win, the guy is great smart and overall great guy, fully deserved the win. He’s Chaser-level smart. #beatthechasers

Another commented: “Yes Rick, fantastic win!! Beat all the chasers with 12 seconds on the clock #BeatTheChasers,” while a third commented: “The courage I would never find to face 5 chasers well done #BeatTheChasers.”

Beat The Chasers airs on ITV and ITVX.
