LIRR service changes starting May 20, 2024

The new schedules begin at all LIRR branches on Monday, May 20, 2024. They include off-peak and weekend changes at many branches to support station improvements and improved accessibility in Babylon, Hollis and Valley Stream. There are no major changes to peak hour service. Some morning rush hour trains will make additional stops to provide more options for passengers.

All passengers should check the new timetables or use our TrainTime app to see if their journey will change.

Added stops during morning rush hours

  • The 4:54 a.m. train from Huntington to Atlantic Terminal will add a stop in Hicksville at 5:12 a.m.

  • The 5:30 a.m. train from Ronkonkoma to Atlantic Terminal will add stops in Deer Park (5:46 a.m.) and Wyandanch (5:51 a.m.).

  • The 7:49 a.m. train from Freeport to Grand Central will add a stop in Jamaica at 8:14 a.m.

Off-peak changes

Babylon Branch

Weekday midday trains to and from Grand Central will only run to Massapequa. Express trains to and from Penn Station will make all stops between Massapequa and Babylon, providing a total of two trains per hour at these stations.

In St. Albans, midday service will again be provided by West Hempstead Branch trains.

Runners Hollis, Queens Village and Elmont-UBS Arena

On weekdays from 10 p.m., when there are no events, westbound trains from Huntington and Ronkonkoma will not stop at Elmont-UBS Arena. Hourly westbound service will still be available on trains originating from Hempstead.

The weekday train from Ronkonkoma to Penn Station which currently stops at Queens Village at 2:45 a.m. and Hollis at 2:47 a.m. will bypass these stations.

At these stations, westbound night trains may arrive on Platform B/track 4. Please allow plenty of time to check the TrainTime app or station signs and move to the appropriate platform.

For several weeks this summer, weekday midday trains will not stop at these stations in only one direction. Additional details will be available under Planned Service Changes as the work approaches.
