FAMU seeks to silence skeptics over promised historic donation

Florida A&M University (FAMU) announced a $237 million donation this weekend. While many people welcomed the donation — considered the largest ever to an HBCU — others remained skeptical.

FAMU released the following statement on Sunday, May 5 in response to some skeptics.

While Florida A&M University (FAMU) remains extremely excited about yesterday’s historic announcement by Mr. Gregory Gerami of the 7th Isaac Batterson Family Trust, we are fully aware of the skepticism that sometimes accompanies such a significant gift.

As expected, some members of the public continue and will continue their research into Mr. Gerami. Please know that FAMU has done its due diligence regarding this matter. Additionally, Mr. Gerami has done and continues to do due diligence on things that have happened and are happening at FAMU.

Although a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) we signed prevents us from disclosing many details, as was reported on May 4, Mr. Gerami transferred $237,750,000 worth of shares into our account that month. last. Mr. Gerami’s $237,750,000 transfer of stock was received in the same manner as we accepted all other stock donated to the University through the FAMU Foundation Inc.

As with any non-cash gift received, such as cryptocurrency, real estate or stock, it will be converted to cash and recorded appropriately.

Once again, we greatly appreciate the generosity of Mr. Gerami and the Isaac Batterson Family 7th Trust.
