Taylor Swift canceled all tour dates in what she called ‘racist Florida’?

In late April 2024, a post went viral on Facebook, claiming that “Taylor Swift will not perform in what she calls ‘racist Florida.’ His manager is upset.”

As of this writing, the post has garnered more than 3,500 reactions and 3,000 comments. “We don’t want her in Florida,” one Facebook user commented, while another added “Florida is definitely blessed.”

The pinned comment linked to an article published by the Dunning-Kruger Times titled “Taylor Swift Cancels All Tour Dates in ‘Racist’ Florida.” It read:

Musical artist Taylor Swift is currently at the peak of her fame. With a top ten album destroying charts across the country and a sold-out tour that plays daily in giant arenas around the world, she really runs the proverbial table.

Except for the unfortunate population of the state of Florida, whose table apparently contains no clues, no chalk, and no Mike’s Hard Lemonade.

Swift completely canceled all of her Florida tour dates after Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that African American studies, a course covering the history and current events regarding black people, would be removed from the curriculum. This is a pretty stunning display of pure racism and ignorance on the part of the modern GOP.

Deputy Governor Joe Barron explained DeSantis’ reasoning behind canceling the popular Florida morning show, Wake Up And Smell the Meth.

“The fact is, DeSantis doesn’t like black people at all. They’re his least favorite colors. He thinks in a perfect world they wouldn’t even be in a college setting in the first place. I mean, have- Do you need to hear a reason? That speaks for itself.

Swift made a brief comment about the cancellation of her tour (…)

“It’s absolutely disgusting, but unfortunately, it’s what I would expect from DeSantis and his miserable half-dead state of Florida. I mean, it’s America’s trash heap. Why would I go there? Shitty pizza and metamucil milkshakes?”

However, it was not a factual account of real events. The rumor comes from a website that describes his production as satirical in nature.
