Target Announces New Logan Location to Anchor Mall Site Redevelopment

LOGAN — Most Americans live within 10 miles of a Target store. If you live in Logan, it’s a different story: the closest Target is 51 miles away, in Riverdale.

Cache Valley residents are lucky, however. Target announced 39 new storefronts, including one in Logan.

“We are excited to bring an easy, affordable and convenient shopping experience to new customers in the Logan, Utah community with this new Target store,” Target told KSL.com in an email.

The new 148,771-square-foot store will be located at 1300 N. Main, on the site of the former Cache Valley Mall that borders North Logan.

A July 2023 report proposed redeveloping the 25.5-acre mall site anchored by a 150,000-square-foot big-box retailer. The site is also expected to house offices, multi-family residential units and parking lots.

The new Target store will easily meet the demands of big box retailers.

Demolition of the mall began last week and could continue into June, a representative said. The demolition contract is valued at $1.9 million, according to city reports.

There is no clear timetable for the construction of the new target.

“As we get closer to the store opening, we will have more specific details to share, including how the shopping experience will be tailored to local customers and the official opening date,” officials said from Target.
