Dean Smith offered job at Norwich City after Frank Lampard withdraws from negotiations

Former Aston Villa manager Dean Smith has been offered the Norwich City job after Frank Lampard pulled out of negotiations to replace Daniel Farke.

Chelsea legend Lampard is reportedly keen to return to management but is still waiting for the right opportunity despite talks with the Premier League’s bottom side.

Smith was sacked by Villa on November 7 but could now return straight to Premier League management.

Norwich sacked Farke on November 6, just hours after the German oversaw the Canaries’ first Premier League win of the season in a 2-1 victory at Brentford.

Smith is expected to make his decision this weekend, but he would like a quick return to coaching.

Farke’s spell as Norwich boss finally ended with his side’s 7–0 chastisement at Chelsea on 23 October, although he remained in the job for two further matches.

Smith lost his job at Villa after five consecutive Premier League defeats, with the Birmingham club’s last victory coming on September 25 with a 1-0 victory at Manchester United.
