The first round of semi-finals is over and we’re all thrilled that Bambie Thug made it through to the grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest, but his performance wasn’t the only thing that had us stuck in the show .

No, we’re not talking about Irish Eurovision legend Johnny Logan’s triumphant return to the stage – we’re talking about the big screen actress on a hosting assignment.

It’s no secret that the wild singing competition attracts a host of famous fans from across the Atlantic in the United States, with Will Ferrell even being inspired to make a big-budget film about the series, but one forgotten Hollywood star saw the show as his ticket home. at the big time.

Malin Akerman has starred in a number of blockbuster hits, including The Comeback with Lisa Kudrow, Couples’ Retreat with Vince Vaughan, Kristin Davis and Kirsten Bell, among others, The Proposal with Sandra Bulllock and Ryan Reynolds and The Heartbreak Kid with Ben Stiller.

She confidently took the stage to host the party in Malmö on Tuesday evening and literally surprised millions of people.

Eurovision fans were surprised when the stunning blonde star took to the stage wearing a hot pink costume alongside Swedish comedian Petra Mede.

Make no mistake though, she’s not just using the show to get in front of an audience of millions to reinvigorate her career, Malin has a vested interest in the show. Although many think she is American, the actress is actually from Sweden.

Speaking about his time on live television in front of an audience of millions around the world, Malin said: “I can’t really describe my feelings about it. I’m very excited and a little nervous, but in a positive way. I have always loved Eurovision and being part of this fantastic show with Petra is a dream come true.

Malin already has an excellent CV, also starring in cult shows like Billions and The Watchmen – but this is her first time as a host – and it’s a start.

The Eurovision Song Contest final will be broadcast on Saturday at 8pm on RTÉ One.
