Long Island Home Listings Inspired by ‘Something’s Gotta Give’ for $3.9 Million

Long Island Home Listings Inspired by ‘Something’s Gotta Give’ for .9 Million

A West Islip home inspired by the setting of the 2003 film “Something’s Gotta Give” is on the market for $3.895 million.

Sellers “fell in love” with the Jack Nicholson-Diane Keaton romantic comedy, said The Agency’s Kyle Roskot. He is co-listing the property with Nicholas Campasano and Ricardo Pena.

“(The sellers) found out where the house was in the Hamptons and did road tours and photos,” Roskot said. “When they finally decided they were ready to build it, they sent the photos to their architect, who turned their dream into reality.”

The Nantucket-style waterfront home was built in 2016. It was designed by architect Matthew Korn and Sarah Bartholomew served as the interior designer. Bartholomew is based in Nashville, so there are pops of color throughout the house inspired by his artistic roots there, Campasano said.

This type of architecture is typically seen in the Northeast or the Hamptons, and is rarer in the Mid-Island on the South Shore, Campasano noted.

“The movie begins when Jack Nicholson and Amanda Peet first drive into the Hamptons and stop in front of the house,” he said. “The front of the house is the first thing that stands out.”

The West Islip property uses the same type of cedar shingle building material and the dining room at the back of the house is “almost identical to the one in the movie,” Campasano added.

The home contains four bedrooms and 4½ bathrooms. There are hardwood floors throughout and an in-ground pool out back. The large main level living room features a 24 foot vaulted ceiling.

Located on Davison Lane West, the home sits on a 0.47 acre lot, with views of the Great South Bay. Annual property taxes are $31,823.

There are several modern amenities throughout the property, which totals 5,700 square feet.

“The house has features like geothermal heating, which is very efficient and modern technology that very few homes use these days,” Pena said. “It also has heated floors throughout the house and censors in each room to adjust the heat to your liking.”

But the house also has classic appeal, the listing agents agree.

“I think the house in general has a timeless elegance,” Pena said.

The property is served by the West Islip Union Free School District.
