Passenger arrested for smoking in plane toilet

An official said today that a 51-year-old passenger was arrested for smoking in the plane’s toilet while traveling from Muscat to Mumbai.

According to him, the incident took place on board Vistara flight UK234, which took off at 11:56 p.m. on Monday from Muscat to the Maharashtra capital.

According to the official, the passenger, Balakrishna Rajayan, walked to the toilet at the rear of the plane and lit a cigarette.

According to him, Rajayan hails from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu. He said the incident was discovered by the plane’s pilot, who used a smoke detector to help him notice it.

The official said that when the pilot alerted the crew, they searched the toilet and discovered a cigarette butt in the sink.

Flight attendants alerted the ground safety supervisor about the passenger’s disruptive behavior on Tuesday morning after the plane landed at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, he said.

After escorting the passenger to his office, security personnel questioned him about his behavior. He admitted that he had smoked in the toilet and mentioned that Rajayan had also provided the box of matches which had been used to light the cigarette.

Later, after being taken to the police station in the town of Sahar, the security official filed a complaint against him.

According to the lawsuit, Rajayan deliberately violated flight attendant safety rules by smoking inside the plane, endangering all passengers.

According to him, a case was filed against the traveler under Sections 25 of the Aviation Rules and 336 of the Indian Penal Code, which deal with threats to the life or personal safety of others.
