Nikola Jokic Pays Silent Tribute to Fallen Warriors Family Member on Live TV – What’s the 3x MVP’s Connection to Dejan Milojevic?

On January 17, the NBA community lost one of its beloved members, Golden State Warriors assistant coach Dejan Milojevic. After falling ill at a team dinner in Utah, the 46-year-old was taken to a hospital in Salt Lake City, where he took his last breath. To honor the veteran coach, each member of the Warriors franchise wore T-shirts with Dejan’s initials and the word “BRAT” on the chest throughout the season. But tonight, paying silent tribute to Dejan, the same T-shirt was worn by Nuggets star Nikola Jokic as he made an appearance on Inside The NBA to accept his third MVP trophy.

Although Jokic and Milojevic didn’t cross paths in the NBA, they shared a deep bond long before Nikola Jokic became the Joker. Both from Serbia, Milojevic served as Jokic’s mentor and coach when he was just a teenager trying to find his way in the world of basketball. Coach of the Serbian Mega Basket team in the Adriatic Basketball League from 2012 to 2020, Dejan took Jokic under his wing in 2012 and coached him until he reached the NBA.
