Jodie Turner-Smith reveals how her MET Gala dress was inspired by her divorce from Joshua Jackson

Jodie Turner-Smith opened up about her “deliberately bridal” look at the 2024 MET Gala earlier Monday – which referenced her split from ex-husband Joshua Jackson.

The Queen & Slim actress, 37 – who stole the show in a custom Burberry dress on the red carpet – took to her main Instagram page on Wednesday to discuss the inspirations behind the dress.

Notably, she wore a sleeveless ensemble that featured 150,000 faux pearls as well as a sheer floral overlay that flowed down into a long train, according to Vogue.

The beauty wore a long cross necklace and a dazzling bracelet while holding a floral piece in her hand. Jodie also debuted short blonde locks at the star-studded event.

“This Met Gala was very special to me…it was my first time going out alone,” Turner-Smith wrote in the lengthy caption.

Just two years earlier, in 2022, she attended the MET Gala for the first time alongside her ex Joshua Jackson. However, she notably filed for divorce from the actor last year, in October 2023.

She continued: “I had a lot of thoughts after reading the short story that the theme was based on… but what I took away from it was the desire to represent both the power of nature and its delicacy.”

Jodie paid tribute to designer Daniel Lee and wrote: “So fitting that the dress #DanielLee designed for me, full of English flowers, is deliberately bridal. white, representing a rebirth. a good start.

The Anne Boleyn star added: “It is by loving and honoring myself that I am able to love and honor my daughter and teach her to do the same.”

The British-born actress included a variety of photos taken during the special evening, including shots of herself posing up a storm on the red carpet.

The mother-of-one also uploaded a selfie she quickly took on the red carpet as she looked closely at her dress.

The beauty flashed an excited smile as she stopped to take a photo with fellow actress Taylor Russell, who was also in attendance at the MET Gala earlier this week.

Turner-Smith also took a few photos inside the venue and was seen taking a selfie with designer and Burberry CCO Daniel Lee.

After the event, Jodie quickly changed her outfit and showed off her toned figure in a yellow crop top along with a matching mini skirt.

She joined Daniel Lee, Naomi Campbell and Chioma Nandi to host an after party at Caviar Kaspia in the Big Apple.

In late October last year, Jodie filed for divorce from Joshua Jackson after four years of marriage, citing “irreconcilable differences.” At the time, the split reportedly left the Fringe actor “heartbroken.”

The former couple married in 2019 and welcomed their first and only child together in April 2020. Amid their divorce, the two stars agreed to share custody of their daughter named Juno.

Shortly after filing for divorce, a source told People that Jodie made the decision to do so because “she decided she was done,” and added that “they are on life paths very different”.
