Dominik Szoboszlai shares two closest friends in Liverpool dressing room

Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has revealed the two players he is closest to in the Reds’ first team. The Hungarian international arrived at Anfield last summer and has become a key member of the team.

Szoboszlai, 23, arrived in a $75m (€70m/£60m) move from RB Leipzig and has started 25 Premier League games for Liverpool since his arrival . During this time, he added three goals and two more assists from midfield.

The former Bundesliga player looked set to play a major role in Liverpool’s historic quadruple victory to mark Jürgen Klopp’s exit in style this season until a recurring hamstring injury sidelined him for 12 matches. He was forced to miss the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea, which the club won, but was also limited in the role he could play when the Reds dropped out of the Europa League and FA Cup.

With the season almost over after also slipping out of the title race, Szoboszlai had the opportunity to reflect on his first season on Merseyside while speaking to MLSZ TV. The midfielder revealed his two closest friends within the team, almost a year after his arrival. “At first it was Trent and it’s still him,” he said.

“But as I have integrated myself into the team, I can say that it is (Mohamed) Salah too. I have found common ground with everyone, so I can talk with everyone. Everyone Everyone gets along well and even though there aren’t many group events, when there are, everyone is there.

Szoboszlai has played just nine minutes in the last two games against Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United, with his last start coming against local rivals Everton. Liverpool lost the match 2-0 in a match which ended any hopes of winning a second Premier League title under Klopp.
