Beautiful Bermuda Bay Estate Has Room to Build a Guesthouse

A golf outing with friends first brought the owners of 290 Bermuda Bay Lane on Bermuda Bay to Vero Beach 25 years ago.

“We had looked elsewhere and thought Vero was special,” says one of the owners, adding that the privacy and tranquility of the waterfront attracted them to the property.

Later, she adds, they realized how special it was to live on the ocean and hear the waves crashing on the shore. “There’s just something about it.”

“It’s rare to find almost an entire acre of oceanfront property at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac,” says Cathy Curley, sales associate for Dale Sorensen Real Estate. “This house represents a phenomenal opportunity. There is room on the property to build a guest house, additional garage, home office or wellness center. Sky is the limit.”

Lush vegetation surrounds you as you drive down the circular driveway towards the house. A feeling of seclusion and tranquility washes over you as you enter the house under an arch of brightly colored, flowery bougainvillea.

Entry into the inner sanctuary is through a heavy wooden door leading to the courtyard staircase, which ascends to the upper level of the house and the main living room.

“What an entrance,” Curley says of the yard. “It’s so Florida with the palm trees, and it’s a lot of fun to walk the hallways of this house because they’re filled with light, with windows overlooking the courtyard.”

Inside, a gallery provides a place to pause and take in the panoramic views as you make your way to the formal oceanfront living and dining room.

“While the house lends itself to entertaining, with a great room that opens onto the poolside terrace through French doors, it is also very comfortable and warm for everyday living,” says Curley.

Noting the barrel ceiling and hardwood floors, the homeowner shares that members of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra visited the home for several years and loved the acoustics of the space.

“We would move the table and a sextet would sit in front of the window,” she adds, pointing to the breathtaking ocean setting.

“This gracious home is very beautiful quality – designed by local architect Peter Moor and built by Croom Construction,” shares Curley, noting the abundance of high-quality finishes and custom touches including crown molding, doors and integrated elements, throughout the house. .

The habitability of the house was an important factor for the owners. “It’s a very family-friendly place,” the owner says, noting that they have a large family and the layout comfortably accommodates their changing needs over the years.

“We never feel like we’re on top of each other,” she adds.

The south gallery houses a guest bedroom with en suite bathroom, a library and a master suite, ensuring privacy for the owners.

Sliders open to a covered porch and pool, giving way to ocean views, so you can watch the sunrise without leaving your room.

The en suite bathroom in shades of green and blue exudes luxury, with a shower, two sinks, a toilet, a bathtub and a dressing room.

On the opposite side of the home, two guest suites, a pantry, powder room, kitchen and family room are conveniently appointed, with stairs leading to the lower level media room.

“The current owners enclosed a porch and created a beautiful family room open to the kitchen,” says Curley. “This space is where they spend a lot of their time, cooking and relaxing on a daily basis.

“Ocean views also abound from this casual space,” adds Curley, noting that the double fireplace brings “both formality to the great room and warmth to the family room.”

There is a two-car garage, “mudroom” and laundry room on the lower level, as well as a full bathroom and media room with kitchenette, which creates an inviting space for grandchildren to play or to watch movies. as well as a perfect place to accommodate excess guests.

You can access the exterior from any level of the house. On the ground level, it’s easy to get to the beach, and on the upper level, the heated pool and spa are just a short stroll in the sand after crossing the private dune walkway.

“This is a tremendous value proposition considering what other oceanfront properties of this caliber in Vero Beach have recently sold for,” says Curley. “After all, they’re not creating more waterfront.”

“This part of the beach feels very private and serene, but you’re still very close to the best shops and restaurants in Vero Beach,” adds Curley.

“There is never anyone on the beach. It’s truly your own private beach,” explains the owner.

Bermuda Bay is a gated community located in Indian River Shores. Community amenities include a heated pool, tennis courts, clubhouse, and deeded beach access. Just outside the Bermuda Bay Gates, Indian River Shores Public Safety provides police, fire and emergency medical services; and the village shops and beach are just a few steps away. It is just a short drive from the shops and restaurants of Ocean Drive, Riverside Park, the Riverside Theater and the Vero Beach Art Museum.
