Farmers offered ,000 or more per acre for solar farm installations

More farmers are in talks with companies to install solar panels on their farms, according to the latest Purdue University/CME Group Farm Economics Barometer.

Agricultural economist Jim Mintert of Purdue’s Center for Commercial Agriculture says that in the past six months, 19 percent of farmers have had discussions about leasing their farmland for solar power.

“Are more and more farmers interested in leasing their farmland for solar energy production? Or is it more demand-driven in the sense that more and more companies are expressing interest?
