Children ‘piled up and slaughtered’ in Sudan, says UN envoy, world cannot ignore this ‘silent war and famine’

Human Rights Watch has warned that genocide may have been committed in Sudan, as the UN special envoy to the country said global indifference to the civil war had led to a ‘silent’ conflict and famine.

Tom Perriello said the world “simply won’t engage” with Sudan, despite the fact that the country has been in the grip of a brutal civil war for a year.
