Methodist Healthcare Announces Gift to St. Mary’s University to Support Greehey School of Business

Methodist Healthcare, a subsidiary of HCA Healthcare, recently announced that HCA Healthcare will donate $200,000 to the Greehey School of Business at St. Mary’s University to support scholarships and faculty training in the master’s degree program in business administration (MBA).

This donation is part of HCA Healthcare’s broader commitment to give $10 million over three years to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs).

St. Mary’s University, a Catholic and Marianist liberal arts college, is the oldest institution of higher education in San Antonio, Texas. It is also a nationally recognized Hispanic institution, serving a diverse population of more than 3,000 students in a multicultural environment.

This gift will fund at least four scholarships per year, over the next two years, for students graduating from St. Mary’s Online MBA for Professionals program and seeking leadership roles. The funds will also provide support to students who are graduate students or research assistants with Greehey School of Business faculty members. All of these scholars will also have access to internship opportunities at Methodist Healthcare, as well as year-round leadership development and guest speaking opportunities.

“St. Mary’s University is grateful, not only for this generous gift, but also for the strong connection between our institutions, which will have a lasting impact on our MBA program, our faculty and the quality of education offered by St. Mary’s University,” said St. Mary’s University President Thomas M. In addition to funding scholarships, part of the donation will be dedicated to improving online teaching methods for MBA program faculty.
