Thomas Rhett Shares How His Wife Lauren Akins Inspired New Song ‘Beautiful as You’

Thomas Rhett didn’t have to look far for inspiration for his new song “Beautiful as You.”

The country singer opened up about how his wife Lauren Akins inspired the lead single from his upcoming seventh studio album, set for release on August 23.

“A few years ago, I looked at my wife and said, ‘Why the hell did you choose me?'” he said in a press release. “I’m around someone who could easily make magazine cover, and I see her in all her forms: a partner, a mother, a friend, and even a philanthropist.”

He added: “I just feel like I have a front row seat, almost perfect, if you will. And like the song says, ‘Seriously, what does someone so Amazing what are you doing with someone like me?'”

Rhett also explained where he and Akins are at this point in their lives.

“Lauren and I are just in a different phase of life than we’ve been in for a while,” he said. “Now it’s a little easier to go on dates, do things with friends, stay up a little later – I don’t know, maybe even sleep a little!”

The couple, married in 2012, share four daughters aged 2 to 8.

“A lot of my music is a reflection of the stage of life we’re in – we’re in a very joyous season – and this song is just the tip of the iceberg for the rest of this next album,” concluded Rhett. .

Rhett will debut “Beautiful as You” at the 2024 Academy of Country Music Awards on May 16.
