FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — The Norwell, Bishop Dwenger and Heritage baseball teams all picked up big wins on the field Friday night.

The Norwell baseball team secured at least a share of the Northeast 8 Conference crown, beating Huntington North 13-1 Friday night. With the win, the Knights improve to 14-6 overall and 6-0 in NE8 play. The Knights can clinch the conference title Tuesday night when they visit Columbia City.

Indiana commit Brayton Thomas struck out 16 batters in six innings of hitless work to help Bishop Dwenger beat Wayne 8-2 and stay perfect in SAC play. The Saints improve to 14-7 overall and 11-0 in conference play. They will close out SAC play next week with games against South Side and Snider.

Heritage baseball head coach Dean Lehrman earned his 700th career victory as the Patriots defeated Manchester Friday night 4-2. Lehrman entered the season with 685 career wins, and Friday’s victory improves the Patriots’ record to 15-2 on the season. Brady Richman and Andrew Mirelez both had three hits to pace the Patriots.
