Karimnagar: As the campaign for the Lok Sabha elections wound down, candidates and political leaders adopted different methods on Sunday to reach out to the public ahead of the start of polling on Monday.

Apart from approaching different groups, welfare societies, communities, caste associations and other organizations, social media platforms have been widely used to woo voters.

Apart from pre-recorded phone calls, video messages were also shared on various social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook and others.

An aspiring MP from Karimnagar Lok Sabha segment has shared a video message telling voters how to exercise their vote for him on the EVM. While displaying an EVM model, it explained its serial number on the EVM machine.

Following the scorching heat, the Election Commission of India extended voting time until 6 p.m., he said, asking voters to cast their votes in the morning or evening. On the other hand, political parties accused each other of distributing money and alcohol to voters.

BJP Karimnagar aspirant Bandi Sanjay Kumar slammed the election authorities for remaining silent as Congress leaders allegedly distributed cash and liquor. Sanjay Kumar, in a statement issued on Sunday, claimed that the Congress was distributing Rs 1,000 and a half bottles of liquor to each house.

Although a complaint was lodged with EC through C-Vigil, no action was taken, he said.
