Anita Baker is confronted with the music of aunts who traveled to Atlanta to see her in concert but were sold a fairy tale.

According to Fox 5 Atlanta, the “Rapture” singer was scheduled to perform a special Mother’s Day show. However, she canceled at the last minute, leaving her fans disappointed and furious.

Anita creates a bit of a need to say “I apologize” to her fans for canceled shows or mistreatment at concerts she attends.

This particular cancellation is a little weirder. Some reports claim the singer also didn’t show up to the soundcheck and may have never been to Atlanta at all.

Singer Ledisi may have confirmed these claims when she posted that she had received an honorary doctorate from Berklee College just hours before. She thanked Anita for sharing her words during the ceremony with John Legend and MC Lyte. Berklee College is in Boston.

Maybe Aunt Anita just couldn’t go back in time to Chile.

Yet the internet dragged the icon for his last-minute antics during a holiday weekend.

Most recently, Aunt Anita butted heads with original operator Babyface when the two joined forces for a tour early last year. The latter ended up being left out of the lineup after conflicting reports as to why he failed to perform his sets in their entirety during multiple stops.

She offered refunds to those who came to see Babyface, but the tour went ahead as planned.

Babyface would later release a statement in his own voice saying:

“I am saddened by the news that Anita Baker has decided to remove me from The Songstress Tour. It is unfortunate and disheartening to see how things have played out via social media.”

He nevertheless expressed his “love and respect” for the iconic singer.

All joking aside, we hope all is well with Aunt Anita.
