Pirates 2nd at NWC meet; Stackhouse wins 2 sprints

BLUFFTON __The Pirate boys and girls track and field teams each finished a strong second place at the annual Northwest Conference championship meet at Salzman Stadium in Bluffton on Saturday, May 11.

Columbus Grove won the women’s team title with 173.5 points. Bluffton finished second with 127 points, followed by Spencerville third.

Grove won the boys team crown with 162 points, followed by Bluffton (123) and Lincolnview (102).

The first day of action on Thursday was canceled due to rain.

Griffin Stackhouse placed first in the 100 and 200 meter races to pace the Pirates boys.

Gavin Bogart also won the men’s 400 meters.

KEEP ON GOING

The Pirate boys also crossed the finish line first in the 4×100 and 4×200 relay races.

Sadie Tarplee won the high jump and Rory Youngpeter took first place in the discus to finish among the top Pirate girls.
