The organizer of the Asia Cross Country Rally 2024 (AXCR 2024) has announced that the Malaysian leg of this year’s rally will be canceled due to security concerns and the event will take place in Thailand.

“Given recent developments at the border, Thai authorities have identified that the security of the convoy would be at risk. Ensuring the safety and security of all participants, participants, staff and supporting authorities involved in AXCR is the Organizer’s top priority. After careful consideration and consultations, we have concluded that the prudent step is to cancel the stage event in Malaysia,” reads the organizer’s press release.

Security reasons for the cancellation were not explicitly stated by the AXCR organizer, but the most recent security concern in the region was the May 6 bombing in the province of Narathiwat, in southern Thailand, which left two Malaysians injured, according to the Malaysian Ministry of the Environment. foreign Affairs.
