The 111-year-old, 351-room Paso Del Norte Hotel – reopened in October 2020 after a renovation costing well over $100 million – now sits at the top of the El Paso hotel market.

The historic downtown hotel generated $17 million in revenue per room in 2023 and nearly $15 million in 2022, well above other El Paso hotels, according to data from the Comptroller’s Office. Texas, which collects hotel occupancy taxes in the state.

The 296-room Marriott El Paso, once perennial king of room revenue in that market, temporarily retook the crown in 2021 when pandemic-related activities pushed occupancy and room revenue to 16.2 million of dollars.

El Paso County’s annual hotel occupancy rate was 69.4% in 2023, virtually unchanged from 2022 but higher than Texas’ rate of 62.3%, reported CoStar Group, a global provider real estate and hotel data. El Paso’s occupancy rate was well over 70% before the pandemic.
