Richmond man sentenced to 2 years in prison after being arrested again for possession of a gun

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A Richmond man was sentenced Tuesday to two years and three months in prison after he was arrested again for possessing a firearm as a felon.

According to court documents, Henrico County Police Division offices conducted a traffic stop on September 5, 2023, involving Nathaniel Jay Brown, 35, after observing him committing traffic violations.

During the traffic stop, Brown implied he had a gun. When Brown got out of the car, the officer retrieved a .380-caliber semi-automatic pistol with a fully loaded magazine from Brown’s waistband, according to the Justice Department.

Brown cannot legally possess a handgun as a previously convicted felon. At the time of the incident, Brown had multiple convictions, including a 2013 conviction for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
