BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A new program is starting this summer with Bowling Green Parks & Rec, offering adaptive, sensory-friendly swim times.

On certain Tuesdays, time will be offered to people with disabilities to spend a less stimulating time at the pool. The Russell Sims Aquatic Center will open early from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. to accommodate a smaller population and less noise. It’s a new program but not a new mission for the department.

Cameron Levis, director of BGPR’s recreation division, said this is simply a continuation of their commitment to ensuring there are no barriers to fun in the community.

Opening day is May 25 and for all updates you can check the City of Bowling Green website or Facebook page. The dates for adaptive and sensory swimming will be June 11, June 25, July 9 and July 23.
