Vitor Roque was offered to Espanyol before signing for Barcelona

According to Diario SPORT, Vitor Roque would have been offered to RCD Espanyol a few months before joining FC Barcelona, and that too, at a much lower price.

The story goes that Roque would have been available for just 10 million euros, far lower than the 30 million-plus bonuses paid by Barcelona.

But for some reason, Espanyol refused the offer. This could be because they thought he wasn’t ready, or simply because they didn’t have the money to invest.

Then, it was Barcelona who signed him in the summer of 2023 from Athletico Paranaense. He was supposed to join in the upcoming transfer window, but instead joined in the previous transfer window, due to Gavi’s injury, which gave Barcelona space in the squad to sign someone one again.

It is now understood that Roque is looking for a way to leave Barcelona to gain more playing time.
