Itanagar: The Arunachal Civil Society (ACS) has demanded quashing of allegedly illegal appointments made in the Public Health Engineering and Water Supply (PHE&WS) department.

Giah Tanam, secretary of the ACS IPR, expressed concern at a press conference on Saturday that these appointments, allegedly made “under the jurisdiction of the Chief Engineer of the Eastern Zone, in the district of Changlang”, could jeopardize the future of the youth of Arunachal Pardesh by unfairly restricting employment. opportunities.

Tanam said: “This blatant disregard for the integrity of public institutions…must end as soon as possible. »

He highlighted a “steady increase in illegal recruitment procedures” in various departments and cited a 2017 incident involving teacher recruitment as another example.

The ACS’s demands include rescinding the appointments of the 25 people within 14 days, taking legal action against those involved to uphold Article 16 of the Constitution, which guarantees equal opportunities in the public employment, dismissal of officials involved in the alleged illegal appointments and public disclosure. of the identity of everyone involved, including politicians, officials and brokers, to ensure transparency and accountability.

AEC official Kamin Yangfo stressed that those who appoint and those who accept appointments bear responsibility.

He stressed the AEC’s commitment to reaching a “robust conclusion” on the matter and pledged to “continue to monitor” developments.
