Man Utd news: Jadon Sancho braces for awkward Erik ten Hag meeting as United boss gives advice

Manchester United have one final Premier League match to play this season, then attention will turn to the FA Cup final and a potentially busy summer transfer window.

European qualification is on the line as Manchester United travel to Brighton on Sunday afternoon, but that’s not the only thing United fans are concerned about.

Three points at the Amex Stadium might not be enough for a European place if Newcastle also win at Brentford. There is still another chance, however, with Erik ten Hag’s side knowing that victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup final would guarantee them a place in next season’s Europa League.

Manager Ten Hag goes into the first of these two games knowing his future remains the subject of speculation. No decision is expected before the summer, but countless others, including England manager Gareth Southgate, have been linked with the Dutchman’s job.

There’s also a big summer transfer window to think about for United and co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, whoever is in the dugout. Here, Mirror football looks at the final lines at Old Trafford.

Sancho’s Ten Hag’s Awkward Reunion

Jadon Sancho has bought a house just a stone’s throw from Erik ten Hag’s Greater Manchester home, it has been claimed. According to The Sun, the winger’s new £3.8 million property is just a few minutes’ walk from where Ten Hag lives.

The England international’s new home in Hale has five bedrooms and an indoor swimming pool. United continued to send people to monitor the 24-year-old during his loan spell at Borussia Dortmund, where some big performances raised questions about his future.

“I know the players feel pretty welcome in Dortmund, they feel at home, especially Jadon,” Dortmund boss Sebastian Kehl said in early May. “I think it was a very good decision to make (Sancho and his compatriot Ian Maatsen).”

Brighton boss to leave after United game

There was already plenty to look forward to during Manchester United’s trip to Brighton, but now there will be the added emotion of a farewell for Roberto De Zerbi. The Brighton boss, who can secure his side a place in the top half on Sunday, will leave after the season finale.
