Milan set for De Zerbi talks after Brighton exit

Milan will begin talks with Roberto De Zerbi in the coming days following his decision to leave Brighton, changing plans in the Lombardy capital.

The 44-year-old Italian manager surprised Seagulls fans last week by publicly confirming his exit from the club at the end of this Premier League season, after failing to find common ground with owner Tony Bloom before the summer transfer window.

Milan have long been looking for a new head coach to replace Stefano Pioli and had briefly considered De Zerbi, but were put off by his €13 million release clause. His departure from Brighton by mutual agreement, however, changes the situation, pushing the Rossoneri to change their plans.

Pages 16 and 17 of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport detail how Milan have welcomed the news of De Zerbi’s departure from Brighton and will make contact with the manager in the coming days to begin discussing a possible transfer this summer.

At the moment, Paulo Fonseca is still at the top of the Rossoneri’s wishlist, but that could change quickly depending on how talks with the Italian tactician progress.
