Kannur: Southern Railway has decided to cancel six special trains, including four weekly services crossing Kerala. Cancellations are attributed to operational and security issues.

This decision comes at a difficult time, as travel difficulties are expected to increase with the reopening of schools. Notably, the weekly Mangaluru-Coimbatore-Mangaluru train (06041/06042), which runs on Saturdays, will be suspended from June 8 to 29. However, services on May 25 and June 1 will continue as planned.

Earlier, the special train on the Mangaluru-Kottayam-Mangaluru route (06075/06076) was also canceled. This train was scheduled to run once a week on Saturdays from April 20 to June 1, but was canceled after its inaugural service on April 20.

Separately, locomotive pilots of the Southern Railway have announced a strike from June 1, demanding a reduction in workload. This strike risks further affecting services.
