Alleged Tesla Cybertruck thief arrested after short chase

Stealing a vehicle is already an insane undertaking to begin with, but stealing and attempting to escape in arguably the most spectacular vehicle in the world is twice as insane. This was the case recently in Lincoln, Delaware, when a 41-year-old man decided to steal a Tesla Cybertruck.

Pursuant to an announcement from the Delaware State Police, officers responded to a residence on Brick Granary Road in Lincoln for a report of a stolen vehicle. Authorities then learned that the vehicle in question was a 2024 Tesla Cybertruck temporarily registered in New Jersey.

Fortunately, the Cybetruck was already being followed by the owner, so authorities were able to locate the vehicle without any difficulty.

The stolen Tesla Cybertruck was spotted on a dirt road near Pinecone Drive, but before officers could approach the all-electric pickup truck, the suspect, who was later identified as 41-year-old Corey Cohee. from Milford, Delaware, headed toward Pinecone Drive.

What followed was a brief pursuit during which Cohee ignored police signals and failed to stop. The alleged Cybertruck thief eventually gave up, probably because he realized he could never truly disappear into the crowds in the all-electric van.

Authorities arrested Cohee without incident and he was taken to Troop 7, where he was charged with theft of a motor vehicle (misdemeanor), failure to obey a police officer’s signal (misdemeanor) , criminal trespass and lack of possession license. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and incarcerated in the Sussex Correctional Facility on $4,002 bail.

The alleged Cybertruck thief definitely made a series of bad decisions when he apparently decided to steal the all-electric van. After all, Teslas are easily tracked through their owner’s mobile app, and the Cybertruck is so unique today that it simply stands out.
