2-year-old dies after leaving hotel room, drowning in pool while influencer parents nap • PhilSTAR Life

The two-year-old son of influencers died after drowning in a hotel swimming pool while his parents took a nap in the next room.

In an Instagram post, Malaysian influencer Jasmine Yong said she, her husband and fellow influencer Lim Kong Wang and son Enzo stayed at a hotel on May 11 to celebrate Mother’s Day.

“As always, he snuggled next to us and drank milk before falling asleep,” Yong wrote in the caption translated into English.

The husband and wife took a nap and when they woke up, Enzo was no longer in the room.

“When I woke up, I found that he was not next to me,” she said, adding that she saw that “the initially locked door to the indoor pool had been opened.”

The couple found Enzo in the pool unconscious and tried to perform CPR, but “there was no response.” The hotel’s poor network prevented them from calling for help.

“We hurriedly ran to the hotel lobby with the baby in our arms and asked the hotel staff to help us call an ambulance and provide first aid until the baby arrived. “ambulance,” she explained.

Half an hour after being taken to the hospital, Enzo regained his heartbeat but was still in a coma.

Yong said her baby “worked hard to hold on until yesterday afternoon,” May 17, when her heartbeat stopped due to insufficient oxygen.

She stressed that no one wanted this accident to happen and asked the media to “refrain from exaggerating, taking quotes out of context and making things up out of thin air.”

Yong also wrote other posts to pay tribute to his son, including IG videos of him taken at House and during their family exit.

Yong, who has over 472,000 followers, focuses on lifestyle, travel and fashion. Wang, on the other hand, focuses on food and lifestyle. They also feature Enzo in their content from time to time.
