Federal agents with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) executed search warrants at Sean “Diddy” Combs’ properties in Los Angeles and Miami on March 25, multiple law enforcement sources confirmed to NBC News.

Sources told the outlet that the warrant came from the Southern District of New York, and a spokesperson for HSI New York confirmed to E! News that he “performed law enforcement actions as part of an ongoing investigation, with the assistance of HSI Los Angeles, HSI Miami and our local law enforcement partners.”

Law enforcement sources told NBC News that the music mogul was in the Miami area when the search warrants were executed.

News of the investigation broke after Combs faced allegations of sexual misconduct in lawsuits filed by multiple accusers starting in November, with the musician denying the allegations.

“Sickening allegations have been made against me by individuals looking for a quick paycheck,” he wrote in a December statement on Instagram. “Let me be absolutely clear: I did not do any of the horrible things alleged. I will fight for my name, my family and for the truth.

The day after HSI executed search warrants at Combs’ properties in Los Angeles and Miami, his attorney spoke out.

“Yesterday, there was an excessive use of military force when search warrants were executed at Mr. Combs’ home,” attorney Aaron Dyer said in a March 26 statement to E! News. “There is no excuse for the excessive display of force and hostility by the authorities or for the way his children and employees were treated.”

Dyer noted that Combs “was never arrested, but spoke and cooperated with authorities.”

“Despite media speculation, neither Mr. Combs nor any member of his family has been arrested and their ability to travel has not been restricted in any way,” his attorney’s statement continued. “This unprecedented ambush – coupled with an advanced and coordinated media presence – leads to a premature rush to judgment for Mr. Combs and is nothing more than a witch hunt based on baseless accusations made in the framework of civil proceedings. »

And Dyer expressed Combs’ intention to defend himself.

“None of these allegations has led to the conclusion of criminal or civil liability,” he added. “Mr. Combs is innocent and will continue to fight every day to clear his name.”

As for what actually happened during the searches, several law enforcement sources familiar with the warrant told NBC News that Department of Homeland Security authorities seized phones from Combs’ Miami home before his trip to the Bahamas, and several sources familiar with the case being added, firearms were discovered during the search.

A source familiar with the matter also told NBC News that three women and one man were questioned by prosecutors and investigators in the Southern District of New York regarding allegations of sex trafficking, sexual assault, solicitation and distribution of illegal narcotics and firearms allegedly linked to Combs. .

On the same day that search warrants were executed at Combs’ properties in Miami and Los Angeles, one of his associates, Brendan Paul, was arrested by Miami-Dade police on suspicion of drug possession, a police source close to the matter told NBC. News.

According to the Miami-Dade arrest affidavit obtained by the outlet, Paul was arrested for alleged possession of cocaine and suspected marijuana candy.

Jail records obtained by NBC News show Paul was released March 26 after posting bail.

“We do not intend to try this matter in the media,” Paul’s lawyer Brian Bieber said in a statement obtained by the outlet, “all matters will be addressed in court.”
