The Bears were shocked that the 2024 NFL Draft was a perfect fit for them

The Bears were shocked that the 2024 NFL Draft was a perfect fit for them

The Chicago Bears’ most recent 1920 Football Drive took place on Thursday, and this one was a must-see. It delves deeper into their draft process, starting with the scouting staff sharing the preliminary information they’ve gathered on Caleb Williams, both on and off the field.

This really clears up some of the stupid rumors that swirled about Williams in the months leading up to the draft and sheds light on how Chicago’s scouting staff looked at him and graded him as a prospect.

“He’ll end up being a top-five QB in the league.” ~ Francis Saint Paul Sr. National Scout

It also appeared that Rome Odunze, who grew up a Bears fan, was their preferred number two option all along. The tension in the draft room as the Chargers, Giants and Titans moved ahead of them, then as the Falcons took a quarterback at eight, allowing Odunze to become a Bear, was an incredible moment captured on camera .

General manager Ryan Poles and the other Bears personnel in the room couldn’t believe Odunze fell into their lap.

“Shane, are you okay?” Poles jokingly asked his offensive coordinator, Shane Waldron, if they had taken Odunze. “Is this too much for you?”

“We didn’t have to give up anything,” the Poles said of staying at nine o’clock for Rome.

“Number one and number two player, though,” assistant general manager Ian Cunningham told the Poles.

“Amazing,” Polish replied, shaking his head.

There’s some post-draft stuff on the Williams-Odunze 1-2 punch before returning to the draft room for their next three draft picks.

This is their best Football Drive of 1920 yet, so check it out here.
