All the clues as Chelsea consider ‘mystery manager’ to replace Mauricio Pochettino

Chelsea’s search to replace Mauricio Pochettino has intensified after reports a “mystery manager” was in the running.

Speculation over Pochettino’s future ran rampant throughout the campaign, but after seven Premier League wins in his last ten matches, there was a feeling the Argentine had done enough to keep his job. However, following an end-of-season review, the Chelsea board and Pochettino have mutually agreed to part ways.

football.london It appears three names are in the running to take the job at Stamford Bridge: Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna, Leicester City’s Enzo Maresca and Stuttgart’s Sebastian Hoeness. However, Sky Sports News reported that a “mystery man” was also under investigation.

But who could this stranger be? We looked at all the clues and narrowed it down to one of three men.

Roberto DeZerbi

The former Brighton manager has been listed among the names of possible managers in the running for the job after leaving the south coast club last week. At the time, De Zerbi insisted that no offers had been made to him regarding future roles.

The Telegraph claims De Zerbi has not been ruled out by Chelsea to become their new manager and it would cost him £5million if he wants to make the move. He also enjoys a good working relationship with the club’s new director of global recruitment, Sam Jewell, who arrived from Brighton earlier this month.
