Still canceled after one season on Apple TV+

Still standing is down for counting. Apple TV+ has canceled the romantic comedy after just one season, Deadline reports.

The British series starred Antonia Thomas (The good doctor) and Craig Roberts (Red oaks) as best friends Lisa and Danny. Bound by insomnia, they stay connected to each other late into the night and navigate their way through a world of “wonderfully strange surprises” as their relationship deepens over time.

Besides Thomas and Roberts, the cast included Blake Harrison (Intermediate) as Veggie, Lisa’s reliable, kind, and eternally optimistic partner; Lois Chimimba (The outlaws) as Amy, the outspoken and funny woman Danny meets on a dating app; Luke Fetherston (Pandora) as Adam, Danny’s helpful firefighter neighbor who lives across the hall; and Rich Fulcher (Joke) as Cat Man, Danny’s strange neighbor with a penchant for cats.

A total of eight episodes were produced. Its finale of season 1, which will now have to serve as series final, abandoned on October 27.

Still standing marks Apple’s second cancellation this month. The streaming service has already dropped Noomi Rapace’s sci-fi drama Constellationalso after one season.
