Rescuers Wanted in Houston, 0 Incentive Offered;  here’s how to apply πŸ›Ÿ

HOUSTON – Pool season begins Saturday, May 25 and ends September 1, 2024. And Houston needs lifeguards!

If you or someone you know is looking for a summer job, then they’re in luck because the City of Houston Parks and Recreation Department’s Aquatics Office is offering $500 incentives to those who work throughout the summer.

To be eligible, candidates must meet the following conditions:

  • Must be 16 years old by May 31, 2024

  • Must pass standard lifeguard swimming assessment

  • Must successfully complete American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, offered/approved by HPARD Aquatic Administration

  • Must pass a physical exam, drug test and criminal background check

  • Have reliable transportation

Currently, the following positions are available, and here’s what they pay:

  • Lifeguard: $16/hour

  • Helmet: $18/hour

  • Aquatic center supervisor: $20/hour

Now let’s talk about this $500 incentive: $250 is paid during the first two weeks after hire, no later than June 30. And then the remaining $250 is paid after you complete the last two weeks of work until the end of the season.
