Princess Anne’s rarely photographed living room at Gatcombe Park is surprisingly cluttered

Princess Anne And Sir Timothy Laurence may live on the generously sized Gatcombe estate, but their royal couple’s living room in the main house is surprisingly comfortable.

The Princess Royal and her husband of 31 years don’t often share photos from inside Gatcombe Park, located on a 700-acre rural estate in Gloucestershire, but they did share this photo of them watching TV in 2021.

At the time, the photograph was shared on the royal family’s official Instagram page, showing the late Queen Elizabeth II’s only daughter, 73, and her husband, 69, relaxing on their sofa while watching TV. sport.

The snap allowed royal fans to get an idea of the personal items that are sentimental to the couple, as well as many spotted trinkets, framed photographs and beautiful paintings, all in the modestly sized living room.

Anne and Timothy sat casually on their red two-seater sofa, while a singular armchair draped in the same paisley and floral pattern was nestled to their right. In front of them, a coffee table sat on the Persian-style rug and was filled with magazines, books, and newspapers, which everyone could no doubt flip through at their own pace.

The flat screen television sat on a wooden cabinet, which appeared to be a vintage piece of furniture that perhaps housed an old television stand. In the corner was a large bookshelf filled with trinkets, animal ornaments, and picture frames.

Eagle-eyed royal fans noticed old photos scattered around the room, including those from Princess Anne’s daughter Zara’s christening in 1981, a photo of Zara and Anne’s son Peter together when they were children, a military photo and various other family photos.

At the time, social media users commented on how “normal” and “comfortable” the room looked, despite it belonging to a senior member of the royal family. As one fan summed it up: “I love that their house looks like anyone’s grandma’s house.”

It’s not just the living room that has Anne’s sentimental personal touches. Her home office, which was shown during a previous Zoom call with her late mother in 2020, is full of knick-knacks and photos.

On the shelf that could be seen just behind her, Anne had carefully scattered a number of animal ornaments across the glass shelves, including birds, rabbits and horses, no doubt a nod to eye to his love of animals and wildlife.

Princess Anne has lived in the main house since the 1970s, after her late mother gave her the sprawling Georgian residence.

In addition to the home office and comfortable living, the house has five master bedrooms, four guest bedrooms, four reception rooms, a library, a billiard room and a large veranda.
