Gianluca Scipioni is a professional trombone player whose love for classical music shines through every note he plays. As principal trombonist of the prestigious Royal Theater in Turin, Italy, and a member of one of the world’s most successful brass quintets, Gomalan Brass, his trombone regularly resonates on the stages of prestigious Italian and European concert halls.

ABOUT GIANLUCA SCIPIONI

Originally from Rome, Gianluca Scipioni’s mother enrolled him in music school at the age of nine. But it wasn’t until high school that he discovered the instrument that would inspire him to pursue a musical career: the trombone. Dropping out of university to study with some of the world’s greatest brass virtuosos, he turned professional in his early twenties, performing with the RAI National Symphony Orchestra and at the Teatro alla Scalla. But his dream of finding a permanent home with an orchestra was not being realized, he said, due to a lingering case of “hearing nerves.” And despite auditioning to become principal trombonist of the Royal Theater in Turin, he still had unexplained fears about his future.

After reading Dianetics: the modern science of mental health and with the guidance of Dianetics, he conquered his fears, thereby achieving success and stability.

With his new courage, he expanded his career by joining other world-class brass players to form Gomalan Brass, an Italian brass quintet that combines virtuosity and humor. Their immensely entertaining and innovative interpretations of classic pieces introduced the genre to new generations.

Today, he continues to perform with Gomalan Brass and the Royal Theatre, fulfilling his goal of uplifting others through music.
