FC Barcelona offer rejected by Joshua Kimmich

Joshua Kimmich rejected an offer from FC Barcelona to join the Catalans this summer according to SPORTwhich cited anonymous sources.

Kimmich was among Xavi Hernandez’s top transfer targets last year and was seen as the ideal successor to his former captain Sergio Busquets after leaving the Camp Nou to reunite with Lionel Messi at Inter Milan following a Champions League title win. League 2022/2023.

However, it turned out that Barca couldn’t afford an approach for the German or Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, and Xavi had to settle for a cut-price Oriol Romeu who cost a few million dollars in Girona.

La Masia product Romeu initially impressed as a center but then fell down the pecking order due to injuries and poor performances which clearly affected his confidence.

While Xavi announced he would resign on June 30 at the start of 2024, he reversed that decision last month after agreeing to extend his contract until the same date next year.

Sports World reported that the legendary midfielder demanded Kimmich and other stars such as Bernardo Silva as a precondition to stay.

Yet ultimately, publicly complaining about Barca’s financial restrictions and how they are crippling the club in its ability to compete with bitter rivals Real Madrid – who snatched the La Liga and Super titles Cut to the Blaugrana – proved to be his downfall.

According to SPORTHowever, negotiations with Kimmich are not going smoothly, even if they are “advanced.”

They are said to be at a standstill due to “the economic disagreement between the offer presented by FC Barcelona and the economic wishes of the German player”, which simply means that Barça did not announce a sum high enough to incentivize him to leave Bayern, where his contract is. expires June 30, 2025.

Different anonymous sources of SPORTKimmich is currently said to earn around $21.1 million (€19.5 million) per year, which will be difficult for Barca to raise.

Meanwhile, Barca also need to find $32.5 million (€30 million) to pay Robert Lewandowski, who will overtake Frenkie de Jong as the team’s top earner next season.
